Hiya, creative friends! Warm weather has finally arrived at our house, and we are putting a new spin on celebrating spring! Instead of traditional spring florals, I put together a fun DIY tropical party setting with paper ferns and leaves instead. I just love how it turned out! With some inexpensive Darice cardstock and your Cricut machine, you too can put a tropical twist on your spring soiree in just a few minutes!
DIY Tropical Party Decor Supplies:
- Darice 12 x 12″ Solid Cardstock Pack
- Darice Scissors
- Cricut Explore Air
- Cricut Cutting Mat
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
Darice cardstock packs come in a variety of colors, so just use your favorites! I used this pretty pastel blue and bright green, but you can customize your DIY tropical party however you want.
To get started, use our Cricut Explore Air to cut several large tropical leaves. (You can re-cut the images I used HERE using the Cricut online Design Space software.)
Cut 2-3 of each leaf in both the blue and green cardstock. Be sure to cut them as large as possible on your 12 x 12″ cardstock.
After cutting several large leaves, create a table runner in the center of your table. Carefully add small dabs of hot glue to attach them together.
Next, reduce the leaf images 75%, and cut several leaves in the same cardstock colors. Use these leaves to decorate the tops of paper straws, embellish your cake or cupcakes, and decorate goodie boxes for your guests!
For my cake topper, I just used small skewer sticks to place the paper cut leaves on the place I wanted them.
One pack of the Darice cardstock had plenty of paper to create my table runner, and embellish my DIY tropical party supplies too!
Doesn’t this just get you so excited for nice weather!? I think I will use more of my cardstock to make this again in really bright colors for summer. I have so much cardstock leftover, I have lots of options!
This fringe DIY crepe paper backdrop would also make a great addition to your tropical spring party. Coordinate the streamer colors to your paper leaves.
Happy crafting!
