Can you feel autumn starting to creep into the air? I know I can and I’m getting excited about it. Today I’m sharing how to make this DIY autumn banner with you. It’s a pretty simple project!
DIY Autumn Banner Supplies:
- Assorted Fall Colored Cardstock
- Darice Assorted Leaves Craft Dies
- Banner Punch Board (optional)
- Dimensional Squares & Adhesive
- Coordinating Ribbon
- Embossing Die Cutting Machine & Electronic Die Cutting Machine
Step 1. Trim your colored cardstock down to about the size of banner flags you’d like. I cut mine to be 5 x 7 inches.
Step 2. Using the Banner Punch Board, cut the peaks out of the bottom of the banner pieces.
Step 3. Punch holes in the top of your banner pieces.
All of your banner pieces should look like this.
Step 4. Use the Sand-it Gadget to lightly distress the edges of each banner piece.
Step 5. Using a piece of each color of cardstock, lay out your leaves to be cut.
Step 6. Put your leaves through your embossing machine. I was able to get nine leaves out of my 5 x 5 inch squares.
You should end up with a fun pile of colorful leaves.
Step 7. Separate your leaves onto the different banner pieces. Each banner piece has no leaves of the same color on them.
Step 8. Using the Kraft cardstock, cut out circles in the size you want. Mine are just over 2 1/4 inches. I used my electronic die cutting machine to cut these. Adhere the leaves to the back of the circles.
Step 9. Use dimension squares on the back of the circle/leaves. Adhere to the front of the autumn banner piece.
Step 10. Cut out your letters to spell autumn. I used my electronic die cutting machine for this as well. Mount dimension squares on the back of your letters.
Step 11. Adhere your letter to the front of the Kraft cardstock circle. At this point, this is what your autumn banner pieces should look like.
Step 12. Lace your ribbon through the holes at the top of the banner.
Now you are ready to hang up your autumn banner! I love that you can see the light distressing on the edges of the banner.
This is the perfect banner for the fall season. You can enjoy it from September all through November!
This autumn banner is perfect for a mantel, shelf, or it could hang on a wall as well.
Are you excited for the arrival of autumn?
