I decided to try something a little out of the ordinary this week. There are so many adorable treat bags available to buy at the store and I buy lots of them because I simply can’t resist. But sometimes I have trouble finding the right size or even the right style. And when I discovered that there was such a thing as chalkboard paper the other day (yes, paper that you can write on like a chalkboard), I knew that this had the amazing potential to be turned into cute, completely customizable, DIY treat bags! Along the way I discovered that it really isn’t that hard to make your own chalkboard treat bags. Who knew!? So keep reading to learn more about how to make these DIY treat bags yourself!
- Canvas Corp 12 x 12″ Chalkboard Paper
- David Tutera White Chalk Pen
- Darice Scissors
- Darice Wave Cut Scissors (Or other decorative scissors)
- Darice Double Sided Tape Roller
- Darice Ruler
- Darice Paper Trimmer (Optional)
To create these DIY treat bags, I began by cutting my paper in half so that I had two 12″ lengths that were 6″ wide. You can create two bags out of one sheet of 12 x 12″ chalkboard paper. I used a paper trimmer to cut my paper in half, but a ruler and scissors would work as well.
Then I cut 2″ off the length of the paper so that I ended up with a 6″ x 10″ rectangle.
Then I folded the bottom of the paper up about 1/2″. I used scissors to cut the 1/2″ off of the bottom of the paper on both sides, leaving the middle in tact.
I filled my DIY treat bags with yummy chocolates, but you can fill these with anything you want! And the best part is is that you can make these as small or as big as you need to! Just adjust the measurements to fit your new size and create away!
Another easy treat bag idea would be to dress up plain white paper bags like in this party favor bags DIY tutorial.
