I may be old fashioned but I still love making and giving cards for the birthdays of friends and family. There’s just something about receiving a homemade greeting card to make your day extra special! This year, I’m planning on making multiples of this DIY happy birthday card to have on hand. I can even switch out paper colors and backgrounds to customize the card for each individual. You won’t believe just how easy this die cut DIY happy birthday card is to make!
DIY Happy Birthday Card Supplies:
- Darice Build-A-Design Craft Dies – Birthday Cake
- Glitter Cardstock
- Black Cardstock
- Cards and Envelopes
- Darice Embossing Folders: Blotted Dots Background
- Falling Dots Embossing Folder (optional)
- Darice Washable Markers
- Xyron 5 inch Create a Sticker Maker
- Tape Roller – Double Sided Adhesive
- Die Cutting Machine
Step 1. Trim the black cardstock to fit on the front of the card. Run through your embossing/die cut machine with the Blotted Dot embossing folder. Use the Sand It Gadget to distress the edges of the raised dots.
Step 2. Run the birthday cake die cuts through the machine with the appropriate glitter paper.
Step 3. I couldn’t get enough detail with the candle die cut piece so I trimmed the blue section and added a white flame that I colored in with markers.
Step 4. Run the birthday cake pieces through the sticker making machine.
Step 5. Add adhesive to the back of the black panel and center on the front of the card. Press the birthday cake pieces to affix in place.
Step 6. (Optional) You can add even more festiveness to your DIY happy birthday card by embossing the envelope panel with the Falling Dots embossing folder. What a neat touch!
This die cut DIY happy birthday card would be so easy to mass produce by working each stage at a time. There are so many great color options and papers to choose from on Darice!
Hope you enjoy making these cards just as much as everyone is going to love receiving them!
