Earth Day is Wednesday and if you’re looking for fun recycled crafts to make with your kids, these Recycled Tin Can Planters will totally fit the bill! With this project, not only do you get to talk about re-using materials but also get the added benefit of everyone getting their hands nice and dirty. With just a few supplies from Darice, you can make an entire family of funny tin can recycled craft planters!
Recycled Crafts Tin Can Planters Supplies:
- Darice Chenille Stems, Pom Poms & Eyes Craft Pack
- Crop-A-Dile Power Punch
- Darice Hercules Double-Sided Tape
- Recycled Tin Cans
- Plants
- Soil
- Nail/Hammer
Step One. Make drainage holes at the bottom of the cans with a large nail and hammer. Be careful not to get your fingers!
Step Two. Use the Power Punch to create arm holes on both sides of the tin. I’m always amazed at what this thing can punch through!
Step Three. Insert a pipe cleaner through the holes and then fill with soil.
Step Four. Gently transfer plant into tin can planter.
Step Five. Apply double-sided tape to the back of the face pieces and allow the child to stick in place.
Need a recycled crafts project to make with a ton of kids or a classroom? The Big Value Craft Kit comes with more than enough! Just have them bring in their own tin cans and you all are ready to make a great Earth Day project.
Both my boys have loved having their silly tin can recycled crafts planters displayed in their room and are responsible for making sure it has adequate water.
Hope you have a great Earth’s Day! Do you have any recycled crafts planned?
