No need to be scared my crafty friends! Today’s alligator craft for kids is super simple and really inexpensive for younger children to assemble with ease. The letter “A” is for “alligator” and this DIY kid craft idea is the PERFECT activity to reinforce that concept! This alligator craft is shaped like the letter “A” and is perfect for everyday crafting for busy mamas, as well as being a great way to “teach” the letter A in the classroom. Sounds super fun – right?!
So now let’s grab our craft supplies and get straight to the step-by-step tutorial below. Happy crafting, my friends!
Kid’s Alligator Craft Supplies:
- Regular Craft Sticks
- Darice Jumbo Craft Sticks (1 per craft)
- Darice Felties Glue
- Green Craft Paint
- Paint Brush
- Green/Black/White Craft Felt
- Darice Kid Craft Scissors
Step 1. First glue your craft sticks together to look like an “A.” Two jumbo craft sticks on the outside and the regular sized craft stick in the center. Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat.
Step 2. Once dry, grab your green craft paint and paint brush. Have children paint their newly made craft stick piece completely green. Again set aside to let it dry completely.Step 3. Next grab your green, white and black craft felt. First you are going to cut out a large 1″ inch circle from the green felt.
Now grab the white felt. Cut out a slightly smaller white circle that will fit inside the first green circle.
This will be followed up with a smaller black circle that will be placed in the center of the first two and give the look of an eye for the alligator.
Be sure to also cut out some pointy alligator teeth from your remaining white craft felt to be placed in the center of your craft stick shape.
Step 4. To finish off your kids alligator craft, have children glue their felt pieces in place on the craft stick shape. They can add any other embellishments that they see fit. Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
