DIY Mini Garden Playset in a Tin

I don’t know about your kids, but mine love miniature things! And anytime I can create something that will keep them entertained and quiet during outings, I do. When I saw these mini metal tins, I immediately knew that I could turn them into some sort of travel toy. After a bit of brainstorming and a little reminiscing, I came up with a fun idea! As a child I personally loved playing with the mini flocked animals that my grandmother had in her craft stash, so I decided to introduce them to my daughter with this DIY miniature garden playset in a tin!

Isn’t it sweet? A mini bunny garden for on-the-go-play! Everything fits right inside the tin and can be stored in your purse or a toy bag!

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-2The best part of this DIY miniature craft is you can have your little one help you make it! It is quick and painless, I promise. Let’s get started!

DIY Miniature Playset Supplies:

  • Darice Rectangular Metal Tins
  • Timeless Minis Accessories
  • Darice Mini Accents Bench
  • Mod Podge
  • Darice Mini Picket Fence
  • Ribbon
  • Darice Green Felt Sheet
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Darice Hot Glue Gun and Sticks
  • Darice Scissors
  • Paint Brush

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-3Trace the lid of the tin onto scrapbook paper and cut out. Trim down if necessary so that it fits the top of the tin.

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-4Trace the template you just created onto felt and cut out.

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-6Using Mod Podge, add a thin layer directly onto the lid of the tin. Place the scrapbook paper on top and smooth into place.

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-9That’s really all there is to this DIY miniature playset! Now you get to pack everything into the tin and it’s ready for play!

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-10I cut an extra piece of green felt to use as grass for outside the tin. Of course you can add whatever accessories you think that your child will enjoy.

DIY-Miniature-Garden-Playset-Darice-11Just a few minutes quality crafting time with your child that ends with a fun toy that is perfect for on-the-go! I hope you and your little ones enjoy!

Older kids and teens may enjoy these mini travel DIY notebooks to take on family vacations or road trips.
