In this day in age, technology is everywhere – even in the classroom! Cell phone usage is a huge distraction in the classroom and the work place. Create a cell phone jail to store phones in. Have all students voluntarily place there phones in the “jail” at the beginning of class. Or you may only confiscate a phone if a student uses theirs during class time. Either way, this cell phone jail is a great way to avoid distraction.

For my cell phone jail, I decided to call it “The Cell Block” because I loved how clever it was. You could also use “Cell Phone Jail” or “The Phone House” or choose another name that works with your space and personality.
Keeping the phones visible can be a comfort for the phones’ owners. Having had to confiscate a phone or two in my days as a teacher, I know that it can make some students anxious to have their phones removed.
While your students will now have a place to put their phones during class, keep yours in a more private spot. Put together this cute DIY phone stand easel to keep on your desk or nearby you in the classroom.
