Summer break might be in full swing, but teachers are still busy making plans to make this school year the best one ever. One of the hot trends for classroom decorating this year will be the cactus theme. Yes, southwestern decor is back in a big way, and cactuses a fun part of that trend. I had a blast decorating a classroom and creating a classroom door theme with lots of different cacti to give you some fun ideas that you can incorporate in your own classroom.
Cactus decorations and classroom door theme:
I always like to decorate the door of the class to set the tone for the year. The theme for this class is “we stick together.” I illustrated this idea first by covering the door with desert sand inspired kraft paper. The green border helps give the edges a framed, finished look. I painted several light wood cacti in different shades of green, and student names will be added to the shapes when the class lists are released. These shapes were hot glued to the kraft paper.
