Hiya, crafty friends! It’s getting closer to that time of year… school time! My kids are actually excited to start this year. We have been prepping with back to school shopping and I told them we could throw a back to school party with some friends. It seems to really help the transition to make it more of a celebration, not a scary change in their daily routine. We are keeping it fun and simple, so I pulled out my trusty crepe paper stash. I LOVE that I can easily whip up back to school DIY party decor with inexpensive crepe paper.
- Darice Crepe Paper Streamer in Red
- Darice Crepe Paper Sheet in Green and Red
- White Cardstock
- Darice Faux Birch Branches or Twigs
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
- Adhesive Dots
To get started with our back to school DIY decor, let’s make the apple cake topper! This project is sooo easy. First, use the green crepe paper sheet to cut two small leaves.
Take one of your faux birch branches, and cut about two inches from the top.
Using your hot glue gun, adhere the leaves and branch to the top of a red crepe paper streamer roll.
Ta-da! Easy peasy cake topper!
Hope your transition back to school goes smoothly, and remember to keep being creative!
You can also make a DIY display board to showcase school projects and artwork on this school year.
