I loved pumping the molds full of the Mod Melts and after letting them cool, peeling them out to use. I created these cute DIY jewelry pieces and hair accessories for girls. Fill one of the Mod Molds with the Mod Melts in your hot glue gun. Start by filling all around the outside edge of the mold first, then fill in the center. It does take a little practice to get the hang of it.
After filling your mold with Mod Melts, let the mold sit for a few minutes so it can harden. Then flex the mold to pop out your Mod Melt pieces. Use scissors to trim off any flaps or strings hanging on the edge of your shapes.
Use acrylic craft paint to paint your Mod Melts. Using layers of paint help to create a more realistic look when painting the flowers. I add some yellow paint to the leaves first and then later went back and painted green over the yellow. For the roses, I painted them pink and later added red to the edges of the petals.
Next use E-6000 to adhere your painted Mod Melts to the hair clip. I love E-6000 because it is paint-able and has a great permanent hold.
Repeat the process to decorate an alligator style hair accessories for girls hair clip. How cute are these hair accessories for girls?!
Use Mod Podge Podgeable Shapes – Metal Blank Charms to create a necklace. Glue a piece of vintage paper to your metal shape and let it dry. Next glue your painted Mod Melts shape on top of your vintage paper. Add a chain and a ribbon and you have a fun necklace to wear.
Create an antique looking frame by painting your Mod Melts frame with a solid color. Let dry. Next, quickly brush gold paint over the raised frame design. Let dry. Add a picture of loved ones by gluing it to the back of the open frame. Then glue the frame with picture onto a round pin back.
When you are all finished with your jewelry and hair accessories for girls, a great way to preserve the paint on your Mod Melts accessories is to spray them with Krylon Crystal Clear. This will ensure that the colors don’t rub off or wash off if water gets on your jewelry and hair accessories for girl. I took my accessories outside and laid them on the grass and gave them a nice coat of the Crystal Clear. That is also why my painted items have a shiny appearance in the finished photo at the top of the post.
I hope you’ll try this fun Mod Melts jewelry and hair accessories for girls project!!
