The look of fringe has always been a favorite element in design and DIY. I especially love fringe made with materials other than the usual thread or string. This easy handmade necklace tutorial features awesome, lightweight feather charms and edgy hematite chain. You’ll only need a few supplies for this handmade necklace! It is also a great beginner project for those of you just starting out with jewelry making.
- 4mm Hematite Curb Chain
- 2mm Hematite Small Loop Cable Chain
- 3-in-1 Jewelry Pliers with Cutter
- Antique Silver Plastic Feather Charms
- Hematite Jewelry Findings (6mm Jump Rings, 8mm Jump Rings, Jewelry Clasp)
Step 2. “Assign” a 6mm jump ring to every other chain link. If necessary, trim down the chain if there is an uneven number of links. You can add more or less of a feather fringe by adding/removing jump rings accordingly.
Step 4. Repeat with the remaining jump rings and charms.
Step 6. Insert through the first curb chain link. (When finished, the thicker chain will naturally hang in the middle.)
Step 7. Using a 6mm jump ring, attach both ends of the thin chain to a jewelry clasp.
