Hello friends. I hope you’re doing well.. It’s officially summer and we are super excited over here. All the kids have started their summer break so we’re getting used to a whole new schedule. One of my favorite things about this season is pulling out all my pretty dresses. I wanted to make a cute little DIY purse to go with all my summer dresses. Perfect for a girls day out, right?! Also if you have a little girl/preteen this would make a great summer project for them to work on!
DIY PURSE BASKET SUPPLIES:
- Darice Chipwood Basket with Lid
- Paint Brush
- Paint
- Vinyl
- Cutting Machine
- Transfer Paper
Step 1. Gather up your supplies. I could not believe I found this basket, I knew right away it would make the cutest little DIY purse for summer. I actually plan on getting a couple more, for several styles.
Step 2. Paint the basket white first. I did a total of 2 coats, letting each coat dry 10 minutes.
Step 3. Next let’s add our COLOR!! I used the new DecoArt Periwinkle and Summer Squash, it’s the perfect color for summer and the look I was going for. Now this step is totally up to you. You can pick out whatever colors your feeling and design it whatever way you want.
You can get as creative as you want with your little DIY purse!
Step 4. Now let’s add our design to the lid of the basket! I found this beautiful phrase in the Silhouette library.
Cut out your saying with your cutting machine, either a Cricut or Silhouette. Use a weeding tool to remove all the excess vinyl from around your phrase, and add it to your basket.
There’s plenty of room to add your phone, keys, sunglasses and lip stick!
Thank you so much for stopping by, I would love for you to share your DIY purse basket ideas with me, via my Facebook page!
