Burlap Farmhouse Sign in Minutes

You can make this burlap DIY farmhouse sign in just minutes with our simple method.  Just use a Sharpie to create a sign that will look great in your farmhouse style home.  We have the free template that will make recreating this sign for your home a cinch.

Burlap DIY Farmhouse Sign Supplies:

  • Studio 71 Burlap Canvas Panel (I used the 12 x 12″ size.)
  • Graphite Paper
  • Sharpie
  • Printed Template (Click here to print)
  • Tape
  • Darice Scissors
  • Pen

Start your DIY farmhouse sign by printing the template from your computer.  If you are using a burlap panel that is larger than your paper size, then print in poster mode.  This will print the template on multiple pages.  Then just use your scissors to trim the paper and tape to adhere it together into one large piece.

Add your printed template to the top of the burlap panel and secure in place with a few pieces of tape.  Then add graphite paper in between the paper and your burlap panel.  Graphite paper will allow you to transfer the lines to your burlap canvas.  NOTE:  The dark side of the graphite paper should be facing down.

The middle of the canvas is not supported by wood.  Use a book or another flat object on the underside of your canvas for support.  Then use a pen and trace all of the lines on your template.  Trace around the thick lines also.  Remove the template and graphite paper and you will be left with dark lines on your burlap panel.

Then just use your Sharpie to fill in the lines.  This DIY farmhouse sign project is as easy as tracing the template lines!  Be sure to leave the book or other hard object under the center of your canvas during this step.  You will need the extra support on the burlap while you trace.

Once all of your lines are traced, your burlap DIY farmhouse sign is ready to be used around your home.  The best part of this project?  No dry time required.

I love a simple craft project that looks amazing.  Get your supplies and take a few minutes to make your own art today.  Your farmhouse will look great with the addition of this burlap canvas sign.

This is awesome. I’ve been wanting to try stenciling on burlap since I have a spare piece I don’t know what to do with and now I know that a Sharpie will do the trick! Thanks!

Is so nice of you Angie to provide the template, so helpful. Now thanks to blog parties I have 2 new projects to make soon. There don’t seem to be enuf hours in day (if I make myself do things like laundry and cleaning house that is) for all the projects want to do. Been hot and heavy making things for house like I haven’t in over a year, feels really good.
I am happy old lady when creating.
    Love your farmhouse sign.
