Have you tried using foil in your crafting projects yet? There are lots of products in the craft industry that make it really easy to quickly add shiny foil in lots of different colors to almost anything! Today I’m going to teach you how to use Deco Foil to decorate a Darice shadow box two different ways.
How to use Deco Foil for Shadow Boxes Project Supplies:
- Darice 7 x 7 in Shadow Box House
- Darice 5 in Shadow Box House
- Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive
- Miniatures, Assorted Animals
- Deco Foil Peel and Stick Toner Sheets
- Deco Foil Transfer Foil Sheets in Various Colors
- Darice Craft Dies, Tropical Themed Set
- Hot Glue Gun
- Laminating Machine
Step 1. Place the stencil you want to use on the wood. I like to use some stencil tape to hold the stencil down.
Step 2. Use a pouncer to dab the Deco Foil liquid adhesive over the stencil. Place a small amount of adhesive on the pouncer, dab off the excess, and sponge over the stencil. Remove the stencil, and let the glue sit for an hour.
Note: Be sure to clean your stencil quickly to get the sticky residue off.
Step 3. Cut a piece of Deco Foil to fit over the glued areas. Place the foil shiny side up over the glue, and rub firmly. The shiny foil will transfer to the adhesive. Use a craft stick if needed to rub firmly on the foil sheet.
Step 4. Peel up the foil sheet to reveal your design!
How to use Deco Foil with die cuts:
Step 1. Die cut the images you want to use from the toner paper with adhesive backing.
Step 2. Place the die cut toner paper pieces on the wax paper-like sheet that comes with the toner paper pack.
Step 3. Cut pieces of Deco Foil to fit over the die cut papers. Run the papers through a laminating machine.
I embellished the shadow boxes with various miniature animals and other accents. These shadow boxes will look cute on a shelf, a desk, or even as book ends in a study. You can foil them with lots of different designs to match your home decor. Have fun crafting and creating with Darice shadow boxes and DecoFoil!
