Looking for an easy patriotic home decor project to do but don’t want to break the bank? Then this DIY American flag craft is perfect for you!
Flag Craft Decor Supplies:
- Darice 8×10 Unfinished Wood Panel
- Darice Wood Stars
- White & Blue Craft Paint
- Red Americana Decor Chalky Paint
- Painter’s or Masking Tape
- Darice Foam Brushes
- Craft Glue
Step One. Paint your unfinished wood panel and 6 wood stars white. You will only need one coat of white for the starts but I recommend a second coat of white for the wood panel. Allow to try. (Tip: If you are pressed for time, you can speed the drying process up by using a hair dryer.)
Step Two. Using painters tape, tape off your stripes. I made sure there was a white stripe at the very top. I also laid my stars down in place so that I knew where to tape off where I’d be painting the blue portion of the flag.
Step Four. After waiting a few minutes, remove the tape. You will now have all of your red and white stripes in place and it’s time to use the blue paint. I reapplied tape just around where I needed to paint my board blue and painted away.
Step Five. Glue your stars on with craft glue. I used Mod Podge but feel free to use whatever you have on hand. Even a hot glue gun would work great also.
