Is there anything quite so timeless as the classic mason jar? They’re the perfect catch all for pantry staples, office supplies, snacks, money…and not to mention their original purpose, canning! I absolutely love how generation after generation falls in love with mason jars. I made this sweet little mason jar DIY flower decor hanging to enjoy these simple jars all year round. The awesome thing about this project is that it can totally be customized to fit any decor. Change out the colors, swap fresh herbs, add words to the background…the possibilities are endless!

To begin, we’re going to give the natural wood pallet backdrop a simple whitewash. Just mix a few drops of water to the white acrylic paint and thinly apply to the wood. We’re not looking for 100% coverage, just enough to add the color without completely covering the wood grain.
With the backdrop set aside to dry, begin by applying paint to to the mason jar wood cutout. I wanted to replicate the look of vintage blue mason jars so I added a bit of white to the Ocean Breeze paint. Make sure you mix enough to cover the small wood cut out. Don’t worry if there’s too much, you can use it in the next step.
Once the paint has dried completely, glue two sets of three craft sticks together and attach to the back of the mason jar as pictured below. Position in the center bottom of the pallet and allow to dry according to wood glue instructions. I suggest placing something heavy on top of the wood cut out while drying.
The best part is that you can totally change the flowers out as little or as much as you want to! I absolutely love the way these look but I’m also planning on trying dry flowers or even herbs. Again, this DIY flower decor project is all about customizing to fit your needs!
