I recently really wanted to come up with some way to utilize corks for a craft…and I really wanted to add to my shelves in my living room. So I came up with a fun little easy craft using a paper mache ampersand and corks! It’s so easy, you won’t believe it. Here’s a quick and easy way to add some cork craft decor to your home!
Ampersand Cork Craft Supplies:
- Darice Paper Mache Amperand
- Darice Mini Corks
- Hot Glue Gun
- White Spray Paint
- Gold Paint or Gold Leaf (optional)
Step 1. It’s simple…take your hot glue and start gluing corks onto the front of your cardboard ampersand. There are times they won’t lie perfectly or have gaps and you can easily cut them in half and make them work.
Step 2. After they’ve all been attached, I took my ampersand cork craft outside and sprayed it well with white spray paint. I could have left it natural, but I really wanted a cohesive look.
Step 3. After I sprayed it, I decided I really wanted to add some gold to it…so I used a little bit of gold leaf I already had on hand to make it extra fun. You can easily use gold paint though and just dab it on randomly all over the sign.
I added my cork craft to my white shelves that already have nice hints of gold to it and VOILA! I have some easy home decor that literally took under an hour to create! Just think…you could do this cork craft with whole words…monograms…last names…and customize it to match your own decor. Enjoy!
