Make Your Own XL Bulb Ornaments

One of my favorite crafts to do during the Christmas season is make my own ornaments. Since I’m short on time this year (hello newborn!), I decided to keep it simple with these super cute XL bulb homemade ornaments. I I went with three basic holiday designs but feel free to customize them with your favorite characters!

XL light bulb homemade ornaments supplies:

  • Darice Plastic Bulb Christmas Ornaments
  • Darice Santa Belt
  • Black Darice Sticky Back Felt Sheet
  • Acrylic Paint (orange, yellow, red, and black)
  • Ribbon
  • Christmas Colors Darice Chenille Crazy Stems
  • Darice Glue Gun

Santa Ornament

Step 1. Apply a dollop of glue to the ornament and press belt buckle in place.

Step 2. Continue adding glue and wrapping the belt around the ornament, finishing with one final glue application on the belt buckle.

Step 3. Trim off any excess belt material.

Snowman Ornament

Step 1. Cut a strip and disc out of the adhesive felt. Add notches to the inside of the disc and a slit on one side. This will make it easier to apply to the top of the bulb.

Step 2. Remove protective backing and adhere in place. I suggest placing the brim first and then covering the tabs with the top strip.

Step 3. Using a fine paintbrush and paint, add eyes, nose, and mouth to snowman.

Step 4. Apply hot glue to the bottom of ornament.

Step 5. Wrap ribbon around the ornament bottom and tie to resemble a scarf. Frey the “scarf” edges.

Grinch Ornament

Step 1. Cut a piece of the chenille stem to wrap around the top of the ornament and affix with hot glue.

Step 2. Use a fine paintbrush and acrylic paint to add the face details.

Step 3. Allow the face to dry completely before using.

Aren’t these XL homemade ornaments so much fun?! I can’t decide if I had a better time making them or seeing them hanging on our tree. Hope you enjoy this tutorial as well!
