Hello there and Happy New Year to you, Darice friends! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season and that your 2018 is off to a great start. Here in Columbus, Ohio we had our first White Christmas in years and the dusting of snow was beautiful! A week later though the real snow came…I woke up that next Saturday morning to the sound of snow blowers and shovels scraping the driveways and sidewalks. Yep, winter is here. Every time it snows and we drag out the big heavy bag of ice melt to de-ice the walks, it’s such a chore. When I saw this beautiful metal bucket I knew it would be the perfect decorative solution to house the ice melt pellets right on the porch, and I am especially appreciating the bit of decor it brings to my porch since it was looking so bare once I took down all of the Christmas decorations! Follow along for the super easy winter decorations DIY!
Decorative winter decorations DIY bucket supplies:
- Darice Double Metal Bucket
- Darice Snowflakes Stencil
- White Outdoor Paint
- Darice Sponge Brush
- Stencil or Masking Tape
Tap the sponge brush into white outdoor paint and tap off the excess onto a paper plate or napkin. You don’t want to use a saturated sponge when stenciling or the paint is likely to bleed underneath the stencil and will leave blurred edges for your design.
Repeat with various sized snowflakes on both sides of the bucket.
How is that for easy?! This took me 15 minutes to make.
Fill the bucket up with ice-melt, toss in a scoop or mug and you’ll be ready to keep your walkways clear. This bucket would make a beautiful planter come spring-time as well, flip it around and stencil on some pretty spring designs and add your favorite flowers.
