Delight your favorite people on Valentine’s day with this “bright” idea for a present. This cute DIY Valentine gift box will illuminate anyone’s day! (Get it?)
DIY Valentine Gift Box Supplies:
- Darice Wood Box with Lid
- Darice Clear Plastic Light Bulb Ornament
- Gold Craft Wire
- Darice Gold Hearts Confetti Pack
- Metallic Pink Paint
- Glue Dots
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
- Foam Scrap
- Paper Tag
Step 1. Paint the box and the lid with the pink metallic paint. Apply the first layer of paint, let it dry, then repeat with the second layer of paint. Don’t forget the inside of the box and the inside of the lid, too! Let the paint dry completely before putting the lid back on the DIY Valentine gift box.
Step 2. Print a paper tag out that says “You Light Up My Life” or a similar message. I’ve included the tag I made if you would like to use that one. Trim the tag and glue it to the front of the box.
Step 3. Cut two pieces of gold craft wire. Place a glue dot on the end of the craft wire, and attach a gold confetti heart to the wire. Repeat this with the other side of the wire, so that a heart is visible from any side.
Step 4. Cut a small piece of scrap foam to fit inside the base of the light bulb ornament. Press the ends of the two wire pieces into the foam. Put the heart wires and the foam into the light bulb. You can use hot glue to hold the foam in place if needed.
Step 5. Remove the hanging piece of the light bulb ornament, and replace the base on the bulb. Hot glue the bottom of the light bulb onto the lid of the box.
This sweet DIY Valentine gift box can be displayed year round…love never goes out of style! Fill the gift box with treats and give it to someone who is special to you. Have fun crafting and creating gifts for Valentine’s day!
