Make this rustic truck DIY ornament for your Christmas tree this year in just a few minutes. Heck you might as well buy enough supplies to make an entire tree full. Trust me, you will love the results of this quick and easy craft project that much! These also make great gifts or even toppers for those presents.
- Darice Unfinished Wood Truck
- Darice 3 Inch Bottle Brush Tree
- Color Stain in Red and Black
- Paint Brushes
- Darice Twine
Start by staining the wood on the truck red except for the tires. There are a few reasons that I love stain for this project instead of the more traditional paint. First, I think it gives the truck a more rustic appearance and that is really the look I am going for with this project. Second, I find that stain is really forgiving for wood crafts like this one with a ton of details.
Just add a nice even coat of the stain, allow it to sit a few minutes, and wipe away excess with a rag. Allow the red to dry completely then move on to the black on the tires. Repeat with the black stain then allow the entire thing to dry completely before continuing.
You will want to cut the base off of your bottle brush tree with wire cutters or strong scissors.
Then add the tree to the bed of your stained and dry truck with a bit of jute twine. You will also want to add some twine through the cab of the truck for hanging on your Christmas tree.
Add this adorable rustic truck ornament to your Christmas tree! You will love the touch of whimsy that this one adds!
