There are few things that perfectly illustrate the holidays quite so much as a vintage red truck carrying a Christmas tree. That’s why, when I saw the adorable red toy truck ornament on Darice, I just had to turn it into a festive holiday piece. Made with just a few craft supplies in under an hour, this DIY Christmas shadow box will become an instant favorite in your holiday decor!
- Darice Red Toy Truck Ornament
- Darice Wood Pallet Box
- Sisal Bottle Darice Brush Trees
- Wood Stain
- Darice Glue Gun
- Red Burlap Darice Ribbon
- Darice Large Sawtooth Picture Hangers Set
Apply wood stain to the wood pallet box. Make sure not to apply too much so that the wood grain stays visible.
Hold the truck ornament in the corner of the frame and squeeze hot glue onto the back tires through the bottom. Don’t worry about putting too much, you want the truck to be nice and secure.
Trim the back half of 5 of the trees. This will help them lay flush on the back of the box.
Apply a dollop of hot glue to the tree base and place inside of box. Repeat with all five back trees.
Repeat step 4 with four more trees to make the front row. You may have to push them against the first row to make it all fit. Just make sure to hold it in place as the glue hardens.
Adding a large red bow is optional but I love how it really finishes this festive piece!
Last but not least, attach a sawtooth hanger to the back of the frame so that you you can hang it on your wall to enjoy!
I love how it looks like this little truck is delivering a freshly cut tree. What a perfect little scene to get you in the holiday spirit!
