White elephant holiday parties are always kinda tricky, especially if they’re work or business related. You want to make sure your gift is humorous and fun but still a little bit practical all at the same time. That’s why this Stuck Santa DIY white elephant gift is just so perfect! You’ve got the whimsical/tacky look of Santa stuck in a chimney but you can also fill it with wine or candy to enjoy. It’s a win/win all around!
Stuck Santa DIY White Elephant Gift Supplies:
- Darice Paper Mache Wine Box
- Darice Plastic Santa Doll
- Adhesive
- Black Paint
- Red & White Felt
- Darice Glue Gun
- Brick Scrapbook Paper
Step 1. To begin your DIY white elephant gift, cover the wine box and lid with the brick scrapbook paper. I used a combination of spray and stick adhesive. Leave a blank square open on the top of the lid and paint black to resemble the inside of the chimney.
Step 2. Use a sharp craft knife to remove legs from the Santa doll. Don’t worry, this kinda freaked me out too! Just take your time and go slow.
Step 3. Cut two 4″ x 6″ rectangles from the red felt as well as two 1.5″ x 6″ white rectangles. Use hot glue to fold the edges in to create a finished border. Glue to the bottom of the red rectangle.
Step 4. Apply hot glue to the back of the leg and secure pant panel in place. Drop glue into the inside of the leg and fold over pant leg to finish.
Step 5. Glue both legs in place in the center of the “chimney.”
Step 6. Fill box with either wine, liquor, or candy treats that any gift recipient will be happy to receive!
I love that this DIY white elephant gift is just silly enough to make everyone laugh but is still totally practical. Who wouldn’t love to see Santa stuck in a chimney and then open the surprise to get some tasty treats?
Hope you have fun making this Stuck Santa white elephant gift!
