It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and today I’m sharing these sweet little DIY paper ornaments with you that will add some sparkle to your Christmas tree. These paper mache star ornaments are covered in vintage Christmas carol sheet music, which adds a charming touch.
- Darice Paper Mache Star Ornament
- Darice 3/4 inch Jingle Bell
- Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
- Darice Foam Brush
- Vintage Christmas Carols Print
- White Craft Paint
- Ranger Ice Stickles Glitter Glue- Diamond
Step 1. Print your choice of vintage Christmas carols from HERE for your DIY paper ornaments. I printed mine at 30%, which was perfect for making one ornament.
Step 3. Use the foam brush to add the glue to the front of half of the star. Press the paper down over the glue, lining up the folded edges to the star. Press down and hold for a minute as the glue dries. Repeat for the other half of the star.
Step 4. Use scissors to trim around the edges of the paper, leaving a small border around the edges. Glue the edges down to the back of the star. Paint the back of the star white. You can choose to seal the vintage music to the front to protect it by adding a layer of Mod Podge over the top and letting it dry. This is optional, but it will protect the ink and will allow it not to smear.
Step 5. Position the DIY paper ornaments in a secure place so they doesn’t move around as you apply your glitter accents. A twig and my scissor worked perfectly for me! Paint around the outer edge of the star with the glitter glue. Add more glitter glue to the raised lines of the star that lead to the middle. I didn’t add any glitter glue to the middle portion because I liked the way that it looked. Let the glitter glue dry completely.
Hang and enjoy! I love how these star DIY paper ornaments turned out. They add such a nice touch to the Christmas tree! Check out these DIY star ornaments for another great holiday ornament project.
