The waves lapping at the shoreline. The smell of the salt air. The sun setting in the horizon. These are the things that I want to remember on a recent trip to Ventura, California. So, what better way than to do a bit of home-deco crafting that will fit in any room of the house. I created this pretty DIY coastal decor with a simple painted tray filled with memories of the beach. My shells and sea glass are all purchased, but if you have some treasures that you found on your adventure, what better way to display them?! This could very easily be made for a trip to the desert or a hike in the woods.
DIY coastal decor centerpiece supplies:
- Darice LED Pillar Candle Set
- Faux Sea Glass
- Crushed Shells
- Darice Wood Tray
- Wood Shell Cutout
- Faux Greenery
- Darice Acrylic Paint- Gray, Pink, White
- Paint Brush
- Sea Shells
- Hot Glue Gun w/sticks
- Darice Natural Leather Cord
Paint the tray in a nice even coat and let dry.
Fill the tray with crushed seashells. I like a lot so I filled mine with 2 bags.
Wrap cording around candles 3-4 times and tie in a knot. Make sure you leave a bit of a tail.
Brush seashells out of the way to place the candles directly on the tray. Embellish around the candles using sea glass and faux floral in the tray. Add any of your own little treasures you may have found while at the beach.
Sponge the shell white leaving a bit of the natural wood showing thru, then sponge the edges pink.
Tuck the wood shell in the crushed shell.
Add some hot glue to small seashells to attach to the knots on the candles. Be creative with your choice of faux floral used in your tray.
Your DIY coastal decor centerpiece is now complete!
