I can’t believe that summer is nearly here and with summer comes a slew of some of my favorite patriotic holidays: Memorial Day and the 4th of July! I LOVE patriotic holidays and I really love decorating and creating for them! I also love going to and hosting picnics this time of year. So in an effort to get ahead this year, I decided to make some patriotic mason jar craft utensil holders that are perfect to use for Memorial Day (and I will be keeping them around to use for the 4th of July as well). They are the perfect way to keep your plastic or nice silverware in one place at the picnic table and they are oh-so-cute too! The best part is that this mason jar craft doesn’t take very long to make either! Keep reading for the full details on these patriotic utensil holders.
- Darice Glass Mason Jar Set (3 per set)
- Darice Bandanas (Red, white and blue)
- Chalk Paint (Red, white and blue)
- Darice Foam Brushes
- Darice Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Darice Scissors
I began this mason jar craft by painting the outside of all of my jars using paint and a foam brush. I wanted mine to look worn and rustic so I only did one coat and I let the brush stroke show. You can do more coats if you prefer. If you want a more rustic look, you can sand down parts of the paint with a piece of sand paper if you like as well.
While the paint was drying I cut my bandanas. I just cut one strip from each color, carefully cutting an area with more pattern to it. I wanted it to be clear that this was a bandana pattern, so I carefully cut the area out of the bandana that I thought would look best.
