Decorating with garlands in your home can be a great way to add a touch of color or seasonal fun without being overwhelming. I have often made my own garland and right now I am really loving the simplicity and beauty of pom pom garlands. I think they are just so fun. So I snagged a few supplies and decided that it would be really fun to create a St. Patrick’s Day DIY pom pom garland for my home. I just love how fun and festive it is and how easy it was to create. It would be simple to make one for any holiday or season without a lot of effort, time or cost.
This DIY pom pom garland project is really simple to make but you end up with a beautiful, modern and unique garland that would be perfect to hang on your mantle, on a wreath or over a frame. I just love how versatile this project is.
*A tip for this project: when you buy a pack of pom poms, they often are a little squished when you take them out of the package. If you simply roll them between your hands, very quickly they poof back up into beautiful, round and full pom poms. It is such a simple little extra step to take but it will make your final garland look much better if you take just a moment to do this.
You will simply thread your needle with white yarn and then string the pom poms on the yarn. I love how it looks to have alternating white and green colored pom poms. But you could do several white and then several green to create a different look. There are so many options really!
I like a little bit of space in between the pom poms on the garland, but again, you can completely customize this to how you prefer. You can leave a little more space between them or keep them close together.
Here’s another DIY pom pom garland project I made for winter using a fun technique to make several yarn pom poms at once.
