For the last two weeks, I have picked up tulips from the grocery store and brought them home to enjoy. I love having fresh flowers in my home and I love tulips! They feel like spring! They just brighten my whole house up, even when it is still gloomy outside (did I mention we got snow this weekend!? eek) But the tulips are helping me think that spring might actually come soon. I look forward to the warm weather and not having to wear quite so many layers to stay warm. And so today I am really excited to share this fun spring DIY sign with you! It is a fun and pretty way to add a pop of color to your home either in the spring, or while you are anxiously awaiting for spring to arrive!
- Darice Laser Cut Spring Wood Plaque
- Smooth Colored Cardstock
- Darice Scissors
- Blue Acrylic Paint
- Darice Foam Brush
I wasn’t sure when I was brainstorming for this spring DIY sign project if I wanted to paint the front of the spring board or leave it be. But in the end I thought a pop of color would look perfect for this board and so I choose a blue acrylic paint I had on hand. I used that and a foam brush to paint the front of the laser cut board. You can leave it be, or stain it, or paint it. The option is yours.
After the paint or stain is dry, you will want to flip your board over. You will cut out small pieces of cardstock and tape them over the back where the laser cut outs are. You can use green for stems, and yellow, pink and purple for flowers. I think pink looks really pretty behind the “Spring” wording with a blue painted board like mine. But you can do this however you want!
Once all the holes are covered with paper, this spring DIY sign is ready to be hung up and displayed in your home or on your front door! I think it is so fun and pretty and it is the perfect pop of spring color in my home right now! Also, it is perfect next to my tulips!
This paper quilled Hello Spring sign is another charming DIY project to tackle for the spring season.
