Have you been totally swept up in the farmhouse style that’s so popular right now? Me too! I love that it’s clean, comforting, and oh-so-easy to DIY yourself. Here’s a fun DIY vase project that can be customized to fit any holiday including Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day Farmhouse DIY Vase Supplies:
- Darice Wood Bird House Kit
- Darice Wood Glue
- Fine Sandpaper
- Wood Stain
- Chalk Paint (White & Gray)
- Graphite Paper
- “Home Is Where Mom Is” Free Printable
Step One. Stain and paint the back and front of the bird house. No need to paint the roof pieces since we’ll be omitting them.
Step Two. Print and trim the “Home Is Where Mom Is” Free Printable so that it fits on the front of the bird house. Layer over a piece of graphite paper and trace to transfer the image.
Step Three. Use gray chalk paint and a fine paintbrush to color in the words. Don’t worry about making the lines perfect, farmhouse style never is!
Step Four. Apply wood glue to the pegs before assembling all the pieces together. Don’t forget to omit the roof!
Step Five. Once all the pieces are securely put together, use sandpaper to distress the entire piece and give it a real “farmhouse” look! Make sure to focus especially on the corners and edges since those are the parts that usually wear down more.
Hang & Enjoy
All that’s left to do is add a mason jar, water, and some fresh flowers to the Mother’s Day farmhouse DIY vase and hang! Of course, you don’t have to use this as a vase if you don’t want to. How cute would it look hanging in a kitchen for utensils or such? Or in the living room as a catch all for coins, keys, or remote controls.
