Nothing screams spring and Easter quite like bunny rabbits and carrots. Good thing this sweet little DIY Easter banner has both! Whether you’re making one for a classroom or to hang in your house, this spring bunny & carrot heart banner will be the perfect addition to your Easter decor. Made with basic crafting supplies, this banner comes together easily and can be customized to match the existing decor. You can even let the kids help with painting the wood hearts for a memorable project that can be enjoyed for years to come!
DIY Easter Banner Supplies:
- Darice Heart Wood Cutout
- Darice Assorted Wood Shapes
- Various Paints
- Darice Pink Grosgrain Ribbon
- Darice Natural Jute
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1. First things first, you’re going to want to decide on the look you want for the bunny faces and carrots on your DIY Easter banner. You can either use different sized hearts (see the picture above) or use all the same size like I eventually decided on.
Step 2. Begin by painting the wood triangles green for the carrot stems.
Step 3. Next, apply orange paint to the hearts. Allow to dry completely.
Step 4. Once dry, add streaks of yellow paint. Starting to resemble a carrot, right?
Step 5. While the carrots are drying, apply white paint to the rest of the hearts. Set aside to dry.
Step 6. Paint “ears” white and add pink detail once white paint has dried completely. Paint small hearts pink as well.
Step 7. When all of the paint has dried completely, begin attaching ears and nose to the bunny faces and green stems to the carrots with hot glue. You can either leave the faces plain or add eyes and a mouth to each one.
Step 8. Apply glue to the back of each piece and carefully press the jute in place. Don’t move until the glue has hardened completely!
Step 9. Cut 4″ strips from the ribbon and wrap around the jute twine in between the heart pieces. If you want, you can also grab a cotton swab and either cosmetic blush or pink chalk and add some color to the bunnies’ cheeks.
How adorable is this bunny & carrot DIY Easter banner going to look in your classroom or house?!
I chose all the same size of hearts but I’d love to see how it would look with narrower long hearts in place for the carrots. Hope you have fun making one for yourself!
