My husband always jokes that buying flower bouquets are a waste of money. They die shortly after you buy them and they can be very expensive, but let’s be honest…what gal doesn’t like flowers every once in a while?! Today I thought I’d find a compromise between the two with this easy Mother’s Day DIY paper flowers bouquet! You can choose your own scrapbook paper and colors, choose how many you want to make and their sizes, and fully personalize a gorgeous bouquet of flowers for mom, grandma, or a good friend!!
DIY paper flowers bouquet supplies:
- Darice Dena Designs Scrapbook Paper
- We R Memory Keepers Flower Stem Kit
- We R Memory Keepers Flower Punch Board
- Scissors & Hot Glue
- Darice Paper Trimmer
The We R Memory Keepers Flower Punch Board comes with great detailed instructions on how to create your own DIY paper flowers. You can great an XX Small Flower all the way up to a XXL. For the purposes of this tutorial, I created XXS, S, and Medium flowers.
Step 1. Start by determining what size DIY paper flowers you want to make. I layered flowers, so I’d make a small and medium flower and then a small and extra small flower. Despite being “small” they really are a normal size. A large flower is roughly 7″ in diameter! The punch itself gives you the dimensions you need to cut your scrapbook paper for each size flower. So for a small flower you cut the paper 2 5/8″ x 12″ and for the XS flower you cut the paper 2 1/4″ x 9″.
Step 2. After you cut your paper, the real fun begins with making your DIY paper flowers!! You follow the instructions on the board, starting the left edge of your paper on the line that says “Start Line,” punching your flower, tracing the diagonal line, and then scoot the paper over to the corresponding edge of “S, M, L, etc.” and starting the whole process over again until you work your way down the whole piece of paper.
Step 3. If you have any excess on the end, trim it off with a pair of scissors, then start folding your flower!
Step 4. After you’ve folded your flower, hot glue it together and then start on your layered look with a second flower. You can even do three or four layers depending on how patient you are!
Step 5. Repeat all the same steps and then pull out your We R Memory Keepers Flower Stem Kit and get to work!
Step 6. After you’ve made all your DIY paper flowers, put them in a pretty vase or tie a ribbon around them…even wrap them up in kraft paper like a bouquet and tie a ribbon around the paper! Then give to your mom for Mother’s Day and watch her face light up at the fact that you created her something by HAND and it will last forever!!
I hope you enjoyed! Have a great week!
