As the Earth begins to thaw from the long winter months, we begin to prepare for spring. How do you prepare for Spring time? Maybe with a deep cleaning of your house, or some needed organization. Cleaning and organizing is great and sure makes one feel more comfortable in their space. After all the work is done we are often too tired to worry much with spring decorations. Does it really matter if we have fun colors or fresh flowers? We all know spring flowers will bloom and winter will end whether or not we decorate our homes. Of course it matters! This simple grapevine DIY bunny decor doesn’t have to take a lot of time or energy and is a perfect way to unwind after a long day of spring cleaning.
- Darice Grapevine and Chicken Wire Bunny
- Darice Oh So Trendy Ribbon in Purple Satin and Yellow and Pink Houndstooth
- Double Sided Tape or Hot Glue Gun
- White Yarn or Pom-Pom
First cut a three inch length of your ribbon. I chose this really fun yellow, orange, and purple herringbone pattern ribbon.
Fold in half making a center crease with your fingers. Then, in the middle, on the backside of your ribbon place a piece of double sided tape or hot glue. Fold one end backward to the middle holding it in place with the double sided tape you already placed. Repeat with the other end of your ribbon.
Next fold your long piece of ribbon in half horizontally, you can place a small piece of double sided tape or dab of hot glue to keep this in place if needed.
The last step in making the bow is to decide the placement. You can either put it in middle of the bunny as a bow tie for a boy spring bunny.
Or put your newly made bow at the ear for a girl spring bunny. Both ways are of course very sweet and adorable, and your choice. I chose to put the bow at the ear for a girl bunny.
The last bit of decoration on our DIY bunny is her cute little bunny tail. You can either make your own yarn pom-pom or buy one. Tie the pom-pom on the bottom circle in the middle, because of the chicken wire you will see the tail poking through from the backside of the bunny.
Lastly you will need a way to hang your adorable DIY bunny decor. Use the coordinating ribbon to make your hanger. I cut about 12 inches of ribbon for my hanger, measure where you want your bunny to hang to determine how long to make your ribbon. Weave the coordinating ribbon through the grapevine ears and use double sided tape or glue to stick the ends together, making a long loop.
Now it’s time to hang your sweet and simple spring bunny décor. There are many places to hang your spring bunny décor, your front door, and kitchen cabinet, the wall, or over a large chalkboard like I did.
Wherever you decide your DIY bunny decor is going to be displayed, it will be adorable! Along with some colorful throw pillows and fresh spring flowers, your home will feel like a beautiful spring day.
