Christmas is quickly creeping up on us and when I realized just how close it was I knew that I better get a move on with my holiday projects. Every year I try to do a handmade ornament but always feeling like I never have any time so I opted for these super simple snow filled DIY Christmas ornaments that was quick to make and lots of fun!
You can even turn this project into a gift for a friend or neighbor by making up a few DIY Christmas ornaments and putting them in a cute paper mache lunch box. That’s what I did and I can’t wait to give it!
- Darice Paper Mache Box
- Darice Plastic Christmas Ornaments
- Darice Snow
- White Craft Paint
- Round Foam Brushes
- Darice Black and White Polka Dot Washi Tape
- Darice Baker’s Twine
Step One: The first thing you want to do is decorate your paper mache lunchbox. I love white polka dots on a natural background so that’s what I went with. Take your white craft paint and squirt a little bit onto a paper plate. Using your round sponge brush evenly paint polka dots on your box.
Step Two: While your polka dots are drying, take your bag of snow and stuff your ornaments. I made a little funnel out of paper so that this part wouldn’t be too messy. You can just stuff the snow in there with your fingers. Either way works fine. Just take the metal piece off the top and stuff away!
Step Three: Wrap washi tape around the top of the ornament. Finally string it with bakers twine or ribbon.
You can get really creative with these types of DIY Christmas ornaments. You can embellish or paint the outside. You can add other elements to the inside like bead or sprinkles or glitter. There are tons of ways to have fun with this simple project.
