Lantern Challenge: Ornament Christmas Lantern

Hey everyone, it’s Abbey from The Cards We Drew. This year for the holidays I decided to try to refocus my decorating a little bit and tie everything together. Over the years we’ve collected a lot of stuff, but it doesn’t necessarily go together or have any sort of theme. So this year I started looking through my stuff and combined what I had to create something pretty. First, I decided to create mini Christmas trees for both of my children’s bedrooms. Next, I got these pretty white lanterns, used some old bulbs I had, and added white battery operated lights to turn it into a festive Christmas lantern.

Ornament Christmas lantern details:

The Christmas tree was created using this Darice mini tree and placing it in a Darice Santa bucket. Then I used a small strand of lights, some mini Christmas bulbs, and a little star we had on hand. The whole thing took minutes to create and under $15 for the whole tree.

I found this gorgeous white Darice lantern and decided that it would be easy and fun to add pretty bulbs to the inside and then light it up using this Darice battery operated light set. It was the perfect way to display bulbs that otherwise had no purpose in our house! Isn’t it great when you can utilize things like that and create such pretty results?! I love how this ornament Christmas lantern looks!

These lanterns are fantastic because you have the ability to change up your decor and colors all the time with little effort. You could add small flowers to them, add holly or a candle, etch the glass and create a frosted effect…the options are endless. I wanted to just leave them plain on their own because they were already so lovely and with the white, weathered look they fit my little vignette perfectly. Check it out….

Hope this Christmas lantern decor idea helps inspire you to re-invigorate your Christmas decorating and think outside the box. Don’t think that just because you haven’t used certain items in a long time that you can’t repurpose them and create something gorgeous!!
