I absolutely love everything about Thanksgiving. Laughs with family and friends over good food? What’s not to love! Of course, Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without some cute little turkey decorations on the table so I made these fun place card holders. This easy Thanksgiving place cards DIY project is inexpensive to make plus when the meal is done, your guests can take home their turkey holders and use them to display recipe cards or pictures. That’s one handy little turkey!
- Darice Wooden Heart Clip
- 1/2″ Darice Wood Hearts
- 1 1/2″ Darice Wood Hearts
- Various Acrylic Paints (Red, Orange, Yellow, Tan, Brown, White, Black)
- Blank Gift Tags
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
Step 3. Continue painting all the different elements. Use a larger paintbrush to add colored stripes to the heart clip. You can either freehand the stripes (using the width of the paintbrush as a guide) or bring out a ruler and make the lines precise. Totally up to you!
Step 4. Use hot glue to attach the beak to the center of the turkey’s face and then attach the entire face to the bottom of the heart stand. Glue the two “feet” in place. You may want to add a bit more glue to the back of the feet to make them secure. Use diluted brown paint to “stain” the base of the stand.
I honestly don’t know which is more fun: making this Thanksgiving place cards DIY project or using them for the holiday! Plus, you’ve got to love that you can make each holder for about $1.25 (minus paints and basic craft supplies). Your holiday budget will thank you!
These DIY Thanksgiving place cards are another fun way to welcome holiday guests to the dinner table and leave them with a take home treat after!
