Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! While I am already finalizing some fun plans to spend the long weekend with family and friends, I haven’t forgotten one of my favorite aspects of the holidays: creating! I love to create and the holidays are one of my favorite things to create for. Today I have a really fun and simple Thanksgiving themed craft that is perfect for your children to help with! Or at least, they can lend a hand with…depending on how old they are. These DIY Thanksgiving treats are so fun and easy to make and would be the perfect gift to drop off at a friend or neighbor’s house this fall season. Keep reading to see the complete tutorial for these handprint turkey treat bags and be sure to make some time to create in your busy holiday season this year.
DIY Thanksgiving Treats Turkey Bag Supplies:
- Darice Clear Cellophane Bags
- Darice Cardstock
- Darice Wiggle Eyes (I used 2 wiggle eyes approximately 3/4″ diameter.)
- Darice Scissors
- Tape (optional)
- Darice Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Treats (I used Reeses Pieces.)
You will begin making these DIY Thanksgiving treats by filling your cello bags just under half way full with the candy of your choice. Then you will secure the bag closed with tape or a hot glue gun.
Using a variety of colored cardstock, trace your children’s (or your own) hands and cut them out.
Lay the hands out in a fan shape and tape them together (hot glue will work also) and then attach them to the back of the filled treat bag.
Cut out an orange beak and a red wattle and attach them and two wiggle eyes to the front of the bag.
Aren’t these DIY Thanksgiving treats so cute? I love the little hands for feathers and I can’t wait to give this to a close friend for Thanksgiving. I just know their family will love it!
