Paint your pallet sign with the cream paint. You will want to paint both the front as well as the sides. One coat of paint is plenty for adequate coverage. Set this aside to dry while you continue by making your pieces.
Start with a little dark orange and cream paint. We are going to use those two colors to create the ombre effect on our pumpkin shapes.
Paint the first pumpkin with one coat of the dark orange. I am only painting the front of these and not the sides. The sides are actually a brown color and look really good when left unpainted.
Mix the dark orange with a little cream and paint the second pumpkin. You want this one to be a slightly lighter shade.
Add more cream paint to your mixture then paint the third pumpkin. Again, you want it to be a slightly lighter shade.
Add more cream paint and then paint your last pumpkin the lightest color.
You can actually start putting these on your sign right away. Apply adhesive to the back of each one.
Add to your sign in a row along the bottom in color order. Set this entire thing aside to dry while you work on the banner.
You will need your “THANKFUL” pieces and your stain for this next step.
Brush on the stain, allow it to sit a few minutes, then wipe away all of the excess with a rag. I found that working three letters at a time worked great. This is so the first does not dry too much before you wipe away the stain.
Repeat with all of your letters.
These will basically be dry as soon as you are done as you have wiped them with the rag to remove any wet stain.
There is jute twine included in the package with the letters. String the letters to spell “thankful”.
You will want to leave a little space in between each letter on the twine.
Hold it up to the sign to see how much space you should leave.
Once you are happy with the look, tie a bow in the twine on each side where the banner will rest in the corner of your sign.
Add some hot glue to one corner and carefully press the bow into place.
Repeat on the opposite side. Allow the sign to dry completely before using.
Your ombre pumpkin fall sign is complete and ready for your home decor!
