Hey everybody, it’s Natalie from Doodlecraft, showcasing another fabulous paper crafting DIY. Besides the perfect weather and getting to wear layers and scarves, my favorite thing about autumn is the changing of the leaves on the trees. It is so beautiful. If you’re looking for fall DIY ideas, this autumn leaf wreath is a cute decoration and is perfect to make by yourself or with little helpers. Let’s get started!
Fall DIY Ideas Paper Leaf Wreath Supplies:
- Darice Grapevine and Chicken Wire Wreath Form
- Darice Mini Clothespins
- Autumn Colored Cardstock
- Darice Embossing Essentials Foliage Dies
- Darice Embossing Essentials Acorn and Leaf Shape Dies
- Die Cutting Machine
- White Chalk Marker
- Scissors
- Tape or Other Adhesive
- Hot Glue/Gun (optional)
Begin by cutting your paper into pieces the width of your die cutting machine. Mine was about 3 inches wide. If working with little helpers, they love to turn the crank on the die cutting machine.
Cut out a variety of different colored and shaped leaves using the dies and die cutting machine. I love how these Darice dies cut and emboss, they look like real leaves. Run them once through the machine stacked in a “cutting sandwich” and then run them through one more time in a “embossing sandwich”. Do each of the shapes in the full variety of colors.
Simply use the mini clothespins to attach a cluster of leaves to the chicken wire wreath form. That’s it! Hot glue the clothespin in place from the backside if desired, especially if you plan to hang this on the front door.
Cut pieces of the Autumn colored paper in 1 by 2.5 inch rectangles, then cut little triangles out of the bottom edge and use a white marker to write “gather” on them.
Then use the clothespins to attach the pennant flags. Tape one on an acorn or leaf for variety.
This autumn wreath is ready to hang and enjoy all season long!
