DIY Halloween Bat Treat Basket:
Alter a pumpkin basket into this cheerful little bat with a little paint and some custom-made bat wings.
Step 1. Paint the outside of the pumpkin basket with black acrylic paint. You can paint the inside as well, if you like. I liked the orange contrast so I left mine unpainted.
Step 2. While your paint is drying, make the bat wings.
To make the bat wings:
Note: For this DIY Halloween project we are using sticky-back felt sheets but leaving the backing on. You can also use stiff felt if you have it.
a. Bend a silver tinsel stem slightly in the center of the stem. With hot glue, attach the stem onto a black sticky-back felt sheet as shown, allowing about 2 inches of the tinsel stem to hang over the edge.
b. Cut two pieces of tinsel stem and glue them onto the felt as shown.
c. Cut out wing around tinsel stems, creating a webbed effect between the short stems.
Step 3. When the black paint is dry, poke a hole in the side of the pumpkin where you want the wing to go. Put a dab of hot glue on the end of the wing’s tinsel stem, and insert into pumpkin. Repeat for second wing.
Step 4. Add a black bow to the DIY Halloween bat handle.
Step 5. Glue googly eyes onto the pumpkin, and a smile made of a curved tinsel stem. Cut two small bits of tinsel stem and fold into vampire teeth, and glue onto the smile.
DIY Halloween Owl Treat Basket:
Whooo wants a cute owl treat basket for Halloween? You do!
Step 1. Paint the pumpkin basket brown, and allow paint to dry.
Step 2. Cut two circles from pink felt to create eyes. Glue googly eyes onto pink circles (or make eyes from white and black felt).
Step 3. Cut wings from pink sticky-back felt. (Again, we are leaving the backing on the felt for this project, to keep it stiff. You can also use stiff felt instead). To make the wing shape, cut a U shape from felt, and then cut the U in half down the middle.
Step 4. Add ears and nose from felt scraps.
Step 5. With glitter glue, draw wave shapes for feathered wings and chest.
DIY Halloween Ballerina Tutu Treat Basket:
Give your little prima ballerina an adorable ballet-themed treat basket that comes complete with a tutu!
Step 1. Paint the pumpkin basket with pink paint and allow it to dry. Give it a second coat if necessary. Allow paint to fully dry.
Step 2. Create the tutu.
a. Cut a length of ribbon that fits around the top of the basket.
b. Fold tulle circles into quarters and hot glue corners onto ribbon, evenly spaced around the ribbon.
Step 3. Glue tutu onto basket, about 1″ from top.
Step 4. Add floral embellishments.
