Every year, the advent of the holiday crafting season makes me want to turn up the sparkle and work with one of my all-time favorite craft supplies: glitter! These striped glittered topiaries are an easy project that requires just a minimal investment of time and supplies. But they are sure to add show-stopping sparkle to your DIY holiday decorations.
Striped Topiary DIY Holiday Decorations Supplies:
Use a foam brush and craft paint to paint the entire surface of the cone. Apply 2-3 coats for even coverage and allow paint to dry completely.
Use the foam brush to paint a 2 to 3 inch band of Mod Podge around the lower edge of the cone. Keep the edges as straight and crisp as possible.
While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle on a layer of glitter and shake off the excess. Hint: If any glitter adheres to the surface of the cone above the band, gently blowing on the glitter should clean it right up!
Repeat this process to create another glittered band around the center of the cone. Allow to dry completely.
Paint the surface of the wood star cutout with craft paint and sprinkle generously with glitter. Shake off any excess. When the paint is dry, use hot glue to affix the star to the top of the completed topiary.
Your glittered striped topiary DIY holiday decorations are complete!
Use this same process to create striped topiaries in any color palette. These DIY holiday decorations would be perfect displayed on a holiday mantel or even perched atop a Christmas tree. I love the idea of using them as a pretty holiday table centerpiece, too!
The sparkle and shine of these DIY holiday decorations will truly enhance your holiday decor. I hope you are inspired to grab the supplies to make one (or a few!) of your own!
