If you’re a retailer or buyer, you might travel to one or more wholesale markets each year. There are several popular markets, like Dallas Market Center, Las Vegas Market and AmericasMart in Atlanta. I recently returned to AmericasMart in Atlanta with my sister for our yearly buying trip. We spent three full days sourcing and ordering merchandise for our store for an entire year. It’s fun and exhausting all at the same time! Checking out the holiday 2019 trends was one of my favorite parts of our trip!
Luckily I live in Northeast Ohio, so it’s easy for me to pop into Darice’s showroom in Strongsville, Ohio. But while we were at AmericasMart, we stopped by Darice’s showroom to take a peek at some of the new items, learn about best sellers and spot holiday 2019 trends.
Here’s a look…
Best Sellers: Themed Nutcrackers
Classic, timeless and what great gifts! The nutcrackers are approximately 16” tall and come in a variety of styles and occupations.

Popular Trend: Buffalo Check
This was everywhere! Not just in the Darice showroom, so this will definitely continue to be a holiday trend in 2019.
Do you know the buffalo check pattern originated on blankets from Scotland in the 1800s? It was popularized in the U.S. when Woolrich made a shirt with the patterned fabric in 1850. This pattern has been around for over 200 years!
They always say trends come and go in fashion. Fabric patterns are no exception.
Tree Decorations
Ribboned Christmas trees and oversized ornaments are always popular. Here are a couple of close-ups of two trees from Darice’s showroom:
Holiday Wreaths
Does anyone else struggle with finding wreaths they LOVE? I’m a self-admitted wreath snob. I can tell you though, that Darice had some beautiful options in their showroom! Here are four of my favorites and they cover an array of design styles:
Pink & Metallics
A little more subtle in terms of trends, was the pretty combination of soft pinks with metallics. These pretty metallic word cutouts and signs in the Darice Showroom caught my eye!
Luminara
Last, but certainly not least is Darice’s line of smart candles, Luminara. This part of the showroom was cozy, serene and stunning!
Luminara Candles are unique because they are electronic and have a flame that physically moves and “flickers”.
“They dance and flicker so convincingly, you won’t believe there’s no real flame. Luminara flameless candles utilize Disney enterprises Inc. technology patents. When planning events or stocking your shelves, insist on only authentic Luminara real flame-effect candles.” -Darice
Whether you or your customers are looking for traditional, metallic, farmhouse or woodland – Darice has these and more design styles and holiday 2019 trends covered.

Darice was founded in 1954, by Pat Catan, an entrepreneur from humble beginnings who valued hard work and dedication. Today, Darice Inc. is a premier manufacturer and wholesale distributor in the craft industry.
Last year I needed to replace my Christmas tree. Well I decided to be unconventional and spray paint it a hombre effect using white at the top and cascading down light grey, dark grey and black at the bottom. I made coordinating ornaments (white, grey and black chalkboard) with the Rae Dunn inspired font. I had white and black buffalo check garland and tree skirt with bright red deer under the tree. The tree is gone but I have all the rest. I’m thinking a flocked Christmas tree might be my best option/purchase? Skip the grey ornaments but use the white with back print and the black chalkboard with the white print. Maybe add a few pops of red ornaments (or bows) and keep the black and white buffalo check garland. My tree topper was a rustic wooden church embellished with white ribbons of different textures. I can only imagine what you might be thinking! A farmhouse, ombre Christmas tree? Rae Dunn inspired? It was a labor of love that started in August of last year. Thankfully, I just have to purchase a tree this year. I’m glad the buffalo check is still “hot” this year because I bought a lot of it last year. What to do for a topper this year? Thank you for all the inspiration! Kindest regards, Kelley M.
I love rustic decor and some farmhouse products. They go well with the primitive dolls I make and sell.
Love the plain stuff
I can’t believe I’m thinking how anxious I am to see all the Holiday and Christmas decorations and crafts you’ll be sharing – the candles and the garlands have really caught my eye
Thanks Jennifer! There will be lots of new product to check out this year!
