I recently returned home from Creativation (the longest running creative industries trade event) in Phoenix, and I’m so excited to share all the fun products and trends I got to see! Creativation is the place where both new and old craft products are on display from hundreds of manufacturers. I walked the show floor looking for trends, hot new releases, and the best of the best of the creative industry. You can also see my wrap up from 2019 here.
My first hot trend of the year is shaker everything! You may have seen shaker cards before but now this trend is amping up and making its way into other crafts as well.
I even found a set of shaker stickers from the new Amy Tangerine line.
There were so many options for the actual shaker domes.
There were also so many booths with shaker dome embellishments. I think we’ll see more and more unique items as this trend continues to grow.
The next craft trend is cosplay! While this is not a new form of art, it is hitting mainstream crafting.
Both of the large paint manufacturers debuted lines specifically formulated for the materials that are used by cosplayers. It was a big hit at Creativation so I expect the trend to only grow.
I loved seeing the amazing works of art that were created from just plastic and this paint!
My third and final trend prediction of 2020 is epoxy resin. I am seeing this used more and more, from creating tumblers to making pour art canvases.
Several booths were offering kits to make getting started with resin easier than ever before. I think that will help those that may be intimidated to start with the craft.
Now, let’s take a look at a few hot items inside the Darice booth! If you love the wood pegboard line, get ready! There are more accessories on the way. You’ll definitely want one in every single room of your home.
Speaking of wood surfaces, there is so much more coming up! One of my favorites was this HOME sign with interchangeable shapes for the O.
Need more surfaces for crafting? These canvas wearable pieces are great for heat transfer vinyl, paint, and more.
Now, with all of these craft supplies, you’re going to need an organization solution. Darice has you covered there as well with items that will work great in your craft room (coming soon!).
Now for a few hot releases hitting the market soon. The mold press from We R Memory Keepers can change any item into a 3D mold that you can then use for crafting. You can see it in action in the video here.
Foil continues to be a big trend in crafting overall. Heidi Swapp released a couple of products to make it easier than ever. The first is a toner pen with a laser toner that you can write with.
Then there is also a stamp pad that uses toner as the ink. Between the two of these, you may never need a laser printer again for your foil crafts!
I hope you enjoyed this peek inside Creativation 2020. There are so many great things coming to the market this year. It is a great time to be creative!
