Simple + Inexpensive DIY Packaging Ideas for Online Shops

There are many different ways to package the orders you receive from your online shop. Some options like custom printed boxes may look nice and give your customers a wow factor, but they can be really pricey. Just because you can’t afford the special custom printed boxes and tissue, doesn’t mean you are relegated to the boring brown box. There are several DIY packaging ideas you can cheaply implement for your online orders to really impress your customers.

#1: Painted DIY boxes

One of the easiest ways to package your online orders is in a box. But if you don’t have the budget for a custom printed box. DIY the look of one at a fraction of the price with paint! That’s right, purchase white cardboard boxes, and use paint to add splatters, polka dots, or a brushstroke look for pennies. Each hand painted box can be customized with your brand colors and will be a great first impression when the customer receives their order. If painting isn’t your thing, just decorate the box with stickers on theme for the holiday or your brand too.

Once you have the outside of the box taken care of, it is time to wow your customers with when they open the box. Tissue paper and confetti or crinkle shreds are always a big hit! You can purchase these or make your own. Just cut tissue paper in your brand colors into pieces with scissors to add to your packaging.

#3: Thank you cards

If you really want to take your holiday packaging to the next level, add in a DIY thank you card. Just a simple handwritten note on a pretty card is all you need to do to show your customers just how much you appreciate their business.

Incorporating all of these ideas in to your online order packaging will impress your customers and keep them coming back for that special felling of opening one of your packages. Not to mention keep the costs low with a little DIY action!
