National Craft Month is coming up in March! National Craft Month was first created by the Craft and Hobby Association in 1994. It was designed to help spark creativity and encourage crafty people to spend time doing things they love. If you’re a brick and mortar store owner and not in the Crafting niche, you might be wondering how National Craft Month can apply to your business. Branded in store workshops may be the answer, and I’m here to help you!
So I thought, why not merge the two?
If you’re a brick and mortar store owner and you’ve never hosted a workshop in your space, check out my blog post on How to Run an In-Store DIY Workshop first. This blog post will give you a good foundation for hosting workshop events in your store.
There are a wide variety of DIY projects here on the Darice blog. I think it’s a fun idea to teach or host a workshop in your store for National Craft Month. However, I don’t want you to offer a DIY workshop that doesn’t make sense for your brand or customers.
I want you to teach or host a workshop that makes sense and appeals to YOUR customers. If you’re a clothing store that focuses on Fashion and Jewelry, I want you to stay in that lane. And if you’re a Home Decor store I’m not suggesting you teach a bridal-themed workshop – that’s for the Bridal shop!
So here’s my list of suggestions for in store workshops based on store types:
If your business promotes all things fashion with clothing and jewelry, Darice has dozens and dozens of Jewelry DIY projects!
If you have a Home Decor store this DIY Door Knob Necklace Holder can be perfect the perfect way for a customer to keep their necklaces organized.
Do you have an adorable Children’s Boutique? Teach Moms how to crochet this cute headband!
Many brick and mortar businesses are Gift Shops. If this fits your business model and you don’t have a lot of space for workshops, this small DIY keyring project might be a great fit!
Darice’s DIY blog is even categorized, so if you have a toy store check out the DIY kids crafts category. If you have a paper and stationery store – check out the Paper Crafts category or if you have a Party Supply Store, then check out the Party Category!
I think you get the picture now. Coming up with ideas for workshops and finding the right supplies can be challenging, but Darice makes it easy.
So in honor of National Craft Month, use the resources that Darice offers and host a creative DIY workshop in your store. You can get the full tutorial in each blog post AND purchase all of the supplies at wholesale prices!
