School will be starting back up soon and it is time to start thinking about school supplies. I have made some crocheted pencil bags in the past and they are one of my favorite things to make for back to school time. I have been wanting to make a DIY pencil pouch that would be a little bit more feminine with a scalloped edging on the flap for a while now.
It will be perfect for my daughter to use when school starts back up next month, the purple and white that I used even matches the new backpack that we got for her. I added a little flower applique to the other side but I think it looks cute with or without the flower. If I was making this DIY pencil pouch for myself instead of my 8 year old I would probably leave the flower off.
This DIY pencil pouch is made by crocheting a rectangle, then folding it and crocheting up the sides. Button loops are added to the flap and then the scalloped edging is added along the the edge of the flap. Buttons are added to keep the flap closed. Last you can add a simple flower applique to the other side if desired.
