I hope you have all been able to spend plenty of time outdoors working on your gardens. I love getting out in the sunshine and dirt to get my garden and flowers planted. Gardening is a great way to de-stress and beautify your home. Did you know that dirt has been shown to have microbes that are beneficial to the lungs, brain, and even uplifting to your mood? Gardening is a great family activity, and is made even better when you can add something crafty. Today I have a fun DIY garden decor project to help you make your garden even more beautiful.
- Darice Wooden Watering Can Shapes (2).
- Darice Wooden Dowels.
- Darice Paint Brushes.
- Darice Wood Glue.
- Outdoor Paint.
- *Optional – Toothpicks, Varnish, Staple Gun.
To begin making your DIY garden decor, paint both watering cans with your base color, front and back. Paint the butterfly wings with your accent color, it may take a few coats of paint to cover the base coat.
Using either the end of a small paint brush or a toothpick make dots on your watering can spout.
Then use the end of a slightly larger paintbrush to add larger dots over the watering can.
If you have mastered making dots, you can easily make hearts. It’s just three easy steps. Make one dot, then another dot right next to the first. Then drag the dots to make the point of your heart.
Let your paint cure for 48 hours, this will help your DIY garden decor keep their paint all summer long.
Then use your wood glue to attach your watering cans to the wooden dowel. Make sure to let the wood glue cure at least 8 hours before placing it outside.
Add your new watering can DIY garden decor to your garden!
