I love working on DIY kids room decor for my boys and the best part is they always love to help! They are very hands on with decorating their rooms. So I thought this new shadow box project was a perfect one to work on with my son for his dinosaur themed room!
Shadow Box DIY Kids Room Decor Supplies:
- Darice Shadow Box Houses 7 x 7 in, 5 in, 2 x 5 in
- Darice Cement Letter
- Craft Paint
- Washi Tape
- Darice Paint Brush
Let’s get started!!
Step 1. Paint First Coat.
First we are going to paint the back of the shadow box green. If you have the kids helping out with this project you can tape it off, but it is pretty easy to freehand. I did a total of three coats and let each coat dry 10 minutes.
I found this BEAUTIFUL chalky finish New Life paint from DecoArt that I absolutely love!!
Step 2. Add Washi Tape.
Next we are going to tape off the top of the shadow box to create our “mountain” look.
Now it’s time to add the final coat of paint. YAY!! We needed to add two coats of the final coat of paint.
Now pull off your washi tape and see our cool look. See how simple that was!!
Find some cute accents and then you’re ready to display these mini mountains in your kids room! The FUN part is they were able to help work on this project for their room.
This DIY kids room decor is the perfect touch for your little ones dinosaur themed room or even a safari themed room!! Change the colors to pinks or purple and you can use it for a girls room. The possibilities are endless!!
This wood doll kids room decor project is also a fun one to work with the kids on!
