DIY Nautical Anchor Art

You can easily make your own nautical DIY anchor art with this neat technique.  Here we used an anchor as the shape but you can actually do any shape that you love.  The rope gives the art a beachy feel that will look great in a bathroom or even at a beach house.  Take 30 minutes or so and make your own version for your home today.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-1DIY Anchor Art Supplies:

  • Darice DIY Wood Pallet Sign
  • Navy and White Craft Paint
  • Darice 0.20″ Jute Rope (two packages)
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Paint Brushes

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-2Start by painting the pallet sign with the two colors.  Make each slat an alternate color.  I used one very light coat on my piece.  That way some of the wood shows through and gives the piece a more rustic appearance.  Allow this to dry completely before continuing.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-3Print your shape from the internet.  I did an anchor as shown below but you can choose another shape if you wish.  Cut around the shape using scissors.  Then put it on top of your pallet sign and trace around it with your pencil.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-4Use hot glue to start securing rope to the outlined area.  Fill each area in completely.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-5There may be parts of your DIY anchor shape where you need to cut the rope and start again in another area.  Keep working the rope around the shape until it is completely filled.  You can also use small cut pieces of rope at the very end to fill in any gaps.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-6All that is left after that is to display your DIY anchor art in your home.  This is the perfect way to display a little something with a beachy feel in any room of your home.

DIY-Anchor-Art-Darice-7What an easy way to make art for your home that will really stand out!  The navy and white stripes are the perfect touch to this art piece.  Plus the rope really finishes it off with that nautical look.  Will you make some DIY anchor art for your home?

Anytime that a post says “Nautical” it just seems to jump out and grab me. Plus, I love blue, so this post was a win win! What a cute idea. Thank you for sharing at Dare to Share.
