It’s officially February! Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? I sure am…it’s one of my favorite things to find cute ideas for, so naturally I thought I’d share a fun and easy gift that’s great for teachers, grandparents, friends, and the like. Succulents are super popular these days, so why not incorporate them into a fun gift idea for Valentine’s Day to show someone you love them. These succulent planter mason jar gifts take no time and is sure to be a show stopper (and it’s another non-candy Valentine idea!).
Succulent Planter Mason Jar Gifts Supplies:
- Darice Pink Mason Jar
- Two Colors of Chalk Paint
- White Glitter
- Darice Oh So Trendy! Gold Ribbon
- Darice Thin Pink Ribbon
- Darice Wooden Heart
- Darice Paper Straws
- Hot Glue, Scissors & Paint Brush
- Succulents and Succulent Potting Soil (found at your local nursery)
- Darice Washi Tape or Painter’s Tape
- Mod Podge
Step 1. Start by washing your jar and then using washi tape or painter’s tape to tape off where you’d like your paint line to be.
Step 4. Once jar is dry, add some potting soil and then add your succulent to the jar–mine was rather large, so it does require some finessing.
Step 5. Paint your wooden heart with paint (I chose pink chalk paint) and using rubber stamps I stamped out “Love Grows Here.” You could also hand write it on there too if you didn’t have stamps.
Step 6. Finally, I hot glued my wooden heart onto a spare paper straw and stuck it into the dirt for a nice little pop of pink, wrapped a gold ribbon around the jar, and then enjoyed my mason jar gifts creations!
These mason jar gifts don’t just have to be a Valentine’s Day present, change it up and use a vintage blue mason jar for your planter or even a green or purple one as a fun spring idea! The ideas are endless! I’m fairly certain a green mason jar with rainbow topper are in my future as a St. Patrick’s Day idea!
